The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is constructing a new, two-lane frontage road adjacent to southbound I-215 from 4100 South to 4700 South in Taylorsville. Improvements will also include:
- A new east-west road connecting the new frontage road to 2700 West
- Retaining walls
- A box culvert at North Jordan Canal
- Improvements to trail connections
- A third westbound 4700 S through-lane at I-215
The purpose of this project is to improve connectivity from I-215 to the local roadway network, enhancing the mobility of people, goods and services to and from the project area.
CONSTRUCTION PREP Crews will start staging equipment and preparing work areas in early to mid-March. This includes removing landscaping and trees along the alignment of the new connector road, and where the frontage road and connector road will meet.
SCHEDULE Construction is scheduled to start as early as April 1, 2024, at the North Jordan Canal. During construction, nearby residents should expect increased noise (digging, construction equipment, etc.), vibration, dust, overhead lighting and truck traffic.
All lanes on southbound I-215 are anticipated to remain open Monday through Friday during commute hours, with lane closures in place primarily overnight and on the weekends. Nearby residents and businesses should expect day and night work seven days a week, as well as increased noise, dust and vibration.
TRAIL ACCESS Access to the trail on the east side of the TSOB building may be limited during construction. Pedestrians should obey all posted signage and keep out of the work zone.
TAYLORSVILLE TEMPLE OPENING The project team is coordinating closely to limit impacts on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Taylorsville Temple open house, occurring April 13 through May 18, with dedication June 2. For more information, click here.
